Branding is critical to your success as a designer, regardless of your specialty. Build your brand with an emphasis on marketing, interviewing, and networking. In this course, you will create and refine your brand and digital portfolio taking into consideration the relationship of you, the designer, to your work, and ultimately your client(s).

  • Building Your Own Brand

  • How to Market Yourself: Know your Audience

  • Web + Responsive Design Fundamentals

  • Interviews, Networking and Using Resources

 

 

GOALS & OBJECTIVES

  • Curate and develop your own portfolio.

  • Build familiarity with typography, hierarchy, branding, relationship of images, & develop an understanding of how to design across multiple digital platforms (web, mobile, social feeds).

  • Foster confidence in presenting and talking about your work.

ASSESSMENT

Grading is based on the individual progress of each student. Students will be expected to come to class prepared to work on assignments & complete project deadlines to receive a passing grade. Participation in class discussions and critiques are also expected.

 

ATTENDANCE

Due to condensed nature of class schedule (6 classes), attendance & participation in all class meetings is mandatory. Unexcused absences may receive a failing grade, upon the discretion of the instructor. Multiple late arrivals will also have adverse effects on final grades.

 

MATERIALS

Basic computer skills & computer access and file storage (flash drive, cloud storage, etc.) are required.
